ShredMaiden Skills Session

Building confidence on green terrain

Join us for our first ever collaboration with local non-profit ShredMaiden, whose mission is to support women in outdoor recreation. We'll have a mix of coaches from both Anchorage MTB Academy and ShredMaiden.

This clinic covers the fundamentals of several different aspects of mountain biking. We'll talk about bike setup and teach you how to get your bike adjusted to fit your body and riding style with hands-on assistance from your coaches. We'll go over foundational riding techniques using the most modern coaching theory, then take to the trails and put the techniques into practice with personalized feedback.

Whether you're new to the sport and looking for a comprehensive introduction, or have some experience and would like to brush up on your skills to feel more comfortable and confident on the trails, this is the clinic for you!

We'll wrap up with some (provided) refreshments and social time.

Who is this for?

This clinic is for riders who have at least basic cycling skills - you can pedal to the ice cream store and back - and are trying to feel more comfortable riding off-road.

We welcome any ability level, more experienced riders can still benefit from a refresher on the fundamentals.

You should have a bike which is the correct size for you, with working front & rear brakes. Please also come with a well-fitting helmet and footwear which protects your foot and provides good grip on your pedals (i.e. no open-toed shoes or crocs)

Shredmaiden events are designed to support and celebrate people who identify as women — including cis and trans women — as well as non-binary riders who are comfortable in women-centered spaces. Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive riding environment.
